Art & Music in Style

Bob's & The Reckless Angel
Second Life is all about capturing our dreams and putting into motion parts of our RL lives that either don't exist or are stagnant.  In RL (what is THAT?!), I am not much of a decorator.  I do a lot of things, but decorating and arts and crafts are not my thing.   In RL, I am also not much of a fashionista.  Back in my younger days, I was an Annie Hall (who is she...go use Google, lol) aficionado and then, for a brief hot minute in my teens, a punker.  I was emo before that was actually a thing.

In Second Life, I am none of those things.  I love SL fashion.  I never had Barbies growing up because I had all brothers and lived in a neighborhood of boys, so I never had the chance to dress one up.  When I came to SL, I came as a professor and researcher, and created Desi - literally - off of my 6 year old niece's favorite Barbie.  The study was looking at a lot of things, but one element was that we allow our girls to dress their Barbies in clothes we would not allow them to actually wear.  This outfit, mostly gathered through the paid Uber Treasure Chest event, is something we'd let Barbie wear but never let our girls out of the house wearing.  But in SL?  It's such a cute little pre-St. Patty's Day outfit!

Now, there is a lot going on in this picture that is worth mentioning.  For one, the artwork.  The Reckless Angel has so many adorable decor items, and I loved this trio together.  The "Love You to the Moon and Back" sign reminds me of what I say to my RL children (who aren't children any more, sniff sniff).  The "Fly Butterfly Fly" decal reminds me of Spring.  The Potted Hearts reminds me of arts and crafts I wish I knew how to make IRL.  You can check out more of their creations by visiting them on Facebook and flickr.

The rug, by Apple Fall, is simple but ties together those elements nicely, and the table by Potomac Signature Homes adds some magic for the music I love to play when I am inworld.

While unassuming, the very cool thing in this picture is the Easy Radio Gramophone by Bob's Creations.  It's an actual radio, and holy smokes, is it the easiest radio I've used in nearly 16 years!  You simply rez it and click on it and pick the music you want to hear from 19 genres.  I mean, really, there isn't anything easier out there.  It doesn't require you to fiddle with land permissions or anything like that.  If you get stuck, you can reach out to the creator, bobsknief Orsini, or visit the very cool website that has manuals for all the products.  There are a bunch of different radio styles, but I liked this oldie look to go with my pretty corner.

So, come get ready for St. Patty's Day with me in my sweet little corner where music and art make me soooo happy in my virtual life!
